The merino wool kerchief at 42 inches square has a multitude of uses (scarf, bandana, hat, hood, shemagh, etc) that puts buffs and neck gaiters to shame. The micro-brand North x North was the foremost supplier of wool kerchiefs but closed up shop in 2022. You can still find quite a few reviews of NxN kerchiefs online to gauge use cases and user interest.
